I would like to warmly welcome you to the Oratory Community. With close to 1,000 Old Oratorians in our network, this site enables our alumni to share stories, career highlights, join discussions, run groups, celebrate reunions and connect with each other from all over the world.
It always strikes me that, as in so many areas of school life, our alumni “punch above their weight” significantly in so many varied and interesting walks of life. These impressive life stories prove a great inspiration to the current young Oratorians, as they consider the “definite service” that they are called to do with their lives after school. As I often say to them, they should believe “why not me?”: why shouldn’t it be me - rather than the boy or girl who went to another school - who achieves that career ambition?
Paradoxically though, I think it’s actually the character education that the OS has provided more than simply academic studies that has given generations of Old Oratorians the skills to succeed in competitive walks of life. Learning to get on with people of many different backgrounds and walks of life in a “melting pot” of cultures, in a relatively small school, paves the way for our young men and women to make their way in the world with confidence but also humility, eagerness but not entitlement.
