Old Oratorian Lukas Haitzmann (OS 2013-18), has completed another adventure. He is part of the Pedal 4 Parks team who set off on 18 June on a self-supported bike packing journey across the UK’s stunning National Parks.

By undertaking this journey from the northernmost tip of the Orkney Islands to the Scilly Isles the team hope to understand how human interference is impacting UK national parks, green spaces and marine environments.

To complete their cycling endeavour they also used water bikes to cycle across the water between the Orkney Islands and John O'Groats, and Land's End and the Scilly Isles.

This expedition follows Lukas's successful adventure rowing 3,000 miles (4,800km) from the Canary Islands to English Harbour in Antigua as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in 2019. As a result, he is the Guinness World record holder as the youngest person to row across the Atlantic Ocean – or any ocean for that matter – solo and unassisted at just 18 years old. Additionally, Lukas’ triple nationality (Italian, Austrian, and British) led him to own the title as ‘the first Austrian to ever row across any ocean solo and unassisted.’
