Join us at the second in a new series of events called: ‘Head Master in Conversation with… ‘. These events feature an eminent member of the Oratory community and we are very pleased to welcome Lord Michael Berkeley CBE (OS 1961-66), to be our guest. An Old Oratorian, Michael is a Composer and Broadcaster. He has presented one of BBC Radio 3's most popular and successful programmes, Private Passions (Sunday at 12 noon), for over 20 years. The programme is recorded in his house and has included an extraordinarily constrasting list of guests, ranging from Isaiah Berlin to Stewart Copeland, the drummer of the Police, and from the Archbishop of Canterbury to John Bird and Stephen Fry.
The Oratory School Head Master, Joe Smith, and Michael will discuss his musical career and his appointment as a non-party political member of the House of Lords as Lord Berkeley of Knighton CBE where he speaks as a passionate advocate for the arts, contemporary music and music education as well as taking up specific causes like FGM.
The evening will begin at 7pm with a welcome drink followed by the talk at 7.30pm. Further drinks and an opportunity to network will follow until 9.30pm.
Please note booking is essential. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
I hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be a thought provoking and stimulating evening.
