Old Oratorian Ed Marsh (OS1994-1999) delivered an excellent talk to the Lower 6th on Tuesday 25 April as part of the Loquitur series of talks. Ed is Chief Commercial Officer at Sutton Football Club.
His interactive talk focused on his time at the Oratory and how it helped him shape his professional career. Ed first worked in banking and had an illustrious military career before working for Sutton Football Club. He reminded our pupils that career paths are often not linear, and that it was crucial to develop resilience when navigating a very competitive recruitment market.
The talk included some very interesting points for our pupils to consider:
Use your time at the OS as an opportunity to develop your skills. Prepare and practice.
Work experience is invaluable. This will be what makes you stand out from other applicants.
It is ok to start on a path and change your career aspirations. Employers will not judge you unfavourably.
Thank you, Ed for this fantastic talk.
