Old Oratorians Run the TCS London Marathon

Old Oratorians take on the TCS London Marathon to raise funds for the Samaritans

On Sunday 02 October, 50,000 runners took to the streets of London to compete in the TCS London Marathon. Among them were three Old Oratorians : Tim, Hamish, and Tom Bowie.  Father and sons ran to raise funds for the Samaritans and to raise awareness on the vital work and support their volunteers provide to so many people nationwide.

When we caught up with Tom this week , he said: “ The Marathon was incredible but also challenging! We found the experience hugely uplifting and enjoyable (helped by the lovely weather on the day after some gloomy forecasts). We all felt a great sense of pride running to help support such an outstanding and essential cause. Having come from different fitness levels with Hamish being up there with the Elite, Tim with many ultra-marathons under his belt and with my running career stretching to a 5k park run, we all felt that we achieved our best result on the day. Our standards of running may all differ but what we can easily agree upon is that we would do it all again given the chance. And to those of you who have thought about it, go for it!”

Below are their finishing times:

Hamish Bowie (OS 2008-2015) : 2:50:59 (916th overall)

Tim Bowie (OS 1977-1982) : 3:57:22

Tom Bowie (OS 2010-2017) : 4:33:40

Well done to the Bowie family!
