RECENT leaver George Clark (School Captain ’24) was part of the Cambridge University Varsity-winning football side which toppled Oxford 1-0.

It has been an excellent campaign for the Light Blues, who won the BUCS Midlands 2A league title and promotion.

They were unbeaten at home all season and had not lost at all since November.

Currently reading geography at Girton College, former St. John student and Oratory 1st XV rugby ace George played for the Falcons (2nd XI) as a fresher last year.

But he admitted this was a new experience, commenting: “I couldn't have been more excited.

“Football is a sport I’ve played since childhood, and playing in front of a crowd like this was always a childhood dream.

“Representing Girton and Cambridge in front of our home supporters, bringing bring the Varsity title home, it’s unbelievable!"

Home captain Deniz Ozer was the match-winner with an early goal at Grange Road, some solid defending helping his side make it back-to-back victories.

They had previously lost seven of the past nine head-to-heads against their oldest rivals.
