A virtual Loquitur talk was delivered by Old Oratorian Pete Kinross (OS 1993-98), an epidemiologist from Sweden on 24 November. Pete spoke about his role as an Expert in Surveillance of Healthcare-Associated Infections at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). In this role he facilitates the prevention and control of communicable diseases, primarily within the fields of COVID-19, healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), with EU/EEA national authorities, to ensure generation and provision of data-driven information, to inform local/national/multinational policies and practices.
Pete went on to explain how he and his team report on infectious diseases - especially Covid-19.
The pupils asked many questions, such as: “Is their anything you would have done differently in your professional career?”
Thank you to Pete for telling us about your inspiring role on the frontline against Covid-19, and for generously giving up your time.
