FITZALAN Prefects, Housemaster and Resident Tutor will embark on a 24-hour fixed-wheel cycle ride to raise funds for the MS Society on Friday.

School Captain, Clement Hobley, explained it is a cause close to the participant's hearts as he said: "Our assistant Housemaster's sister suffered from MS for more than 10 years. She lost her sight, her mobility and her livelihood.

"The MS Society provided advice, support and ongoing care throughout this period. It also allowed her to spend time with others who suffered the same condition.

"She regularly attended meetings and was able to use the decompression chamber which was a great help to her. The nurses and specialists provided an excellent service to help her and others to cope with this debilitating illness.

"The society was one of her main supports, along with the people she met there, to help maintain her mental health when coping with this terrible and degenerative condition."

He continued: "Donating to a multiple sclerosis (MS) charity is a powerful way to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by this challenging condition.

"Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a vital role in funding essential research, providing support to patients, and raising awareness about living with MS.

"Small donations can add up to create significant change, and even the smallest gesture shows compassion and solidarity with those battling this degenerative disease.

"By giving what you can, you’re not just donating money — you’re offering hope and helping to improve the lives of those affected by MS. Together, we can make an impact."

There will be two fixed wheel cycles pedalled continuously during the 24 hour period, with each participant cycling for four hours.
