Old Oratorians Make a Difference to the Deaf Community in Barbados

Through his charity, the Peter & Jan Boos Family Foundation, Old Oratorian Peter Boos (OS 1958-63) has been assisting several charities including the Barbados Council for the Disabled and in particular the deaf community.

Peter had been in touch with Aelred Plimmer (OS 1956-61), Peter’s contemporary at The Oratory. Aelred, (also from Trinidad and who played rugby with Peter for Caribs RFC in Trinidad in 1969/70) lives in Toronto and has business contacts with hearing aid manufacturers. Aelred very generously agreed to contact them and request a donation. He was successful in getting 10 donated and had them shipped to Barbados for fitting to the deaf who need them.

This is a fantastic example of how through relationships formed at The Oratory some 60 years ago, two boys from Trinidad connected to help the deaf Bajan community.
