FORMER Norris Vice Captain Will Parsons (’05) is taking on ‘the challenge of his life’ as he looks to raise £5,000 for Diabetes UK.
He will put his body to the limit by climbing Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, up and down five times in a row on June 20.
Each full ascent and descent adds up to nearly 2,000 metres of elevation, and by the end Will will have walked more than 30 miles and climbed and descended the equivalent height of Mount Everest — 8,848 metres.
It will take around 24 hours of continuous movement, battling tired legs, darkness, and the unpredictable Lake District weather.
Will explained his reason for doing it for Diabetes UK, stating: “It’s a charity which means a lot to me, as my wife lives with the condition.
“They support millions of people affected by diabetes and work tirelessly towards better treatment, prevention, and ultimately, a cure.
“Their support changes lives every day – and every step I take will be for them.”
He continued: “This challenge is about pushing beyond my comfort zone and showing small, consistent effort can add up to something massive.
“Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference and help keep me moving when it gets tough.
“If you’d like to join me for any of the legs, I will be hugely appreciative of the company, so please do come along!”
