6th Form Loquitur talk with Tom Gowing (OS 1995-00)

Tom Gowing (OS 1995-00) from Fyte Recruitment spoke to the 6th formers about employability.

Many thanks to Old Oratorian Tom Gowing (OS 1995-00), who works in recruitment. It was very interesting to hear about Tom's background and how the job market may look in the future.

Tom spoke about the importance of networks as well as technology and data.

Adaptability and resilience are key features that employers look for in an employee. Tom recommended that the pupils have examples that demonstrate these ready. Perhaps they can draw on a time they received a set back but kept on going, or they experienced change but adapted well.

Tom said that tailoring a CV to the job was important as well as making sure to update your skill set regularly to ensure you stay relevant.

Tom's talk was full of excellent, practical tips and advice about all aspects of employability that they pupils can put into practice straight away.
